This Week’s Top 3 Entertainment News Stories!!! [RECAP]
Forget having the worst week ever, Meek Mill could be possibly having the worst month ever, ok?
Not only is he fighting a four year sentence that was recently handed down he has also been slapped with a wrongful death suit stemming from a December 2016 shooting at his concert in Wallingford, Connecticut. Two people, Jaquan Graves, 20, and Travis Ward, 30, were fatally shot at the show and TMZ is reporting that Graves' family is suing the Philly rapper for unspecified damages. The family claims Meek and the entertainment company should be held accountable for Graves’ death, because they "allowed thugs to remain on the premises, after exhibiting disorderly, disruptive, argumentative, angry and/or agitated behavior toward patrons." Meek Mill has denied any responsibility and has asked the judge to throw out the suit. Click here to read more.
They’re like the first royal family of hip hop! When Jay or Bey speaks, th world listens. For the first time since speculations about infidelity in Beyonce and Jay Z’s marriage, the release of the ‘Lemonade’ which was deemed to be Bey’s artistic approach to all that went down and ‘444’ which is Jay Z’s response to ‘Lemoande’ (you got all that? Lol) we are finally hearing first hand from Jay Z himself about his infidelity and answered many of the questions their fans have had since the whole elevator debacle. In response to being asked about his infidelity, he said “The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself.” I credit him for manning up to his indiscretions and opening up about his business, marriage, family and more. The 2018 Grammy nominees have been announced! For the first time in the six-decade Grammy Awards history, the nominees for album-of-the-year are all African American! With Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars and Childish Gambino leading the way as the top nominees, it seems as if the Recording Academy is finally paying homage to the rap/hip-hop genre. I’m especially super excited for new artist Sza as well, even though I wasn’t a fan of the aide chick lyrics in The Weekend lol her album ‘Ctrl’ is undeniable talent and she stands to take home up to 5 Grammy’s! This is someone who said she lied about being vegan to her friends, because she could only afford bagged salad….man! She goes to show what true hard work and dedication can do. You go girl! The 60th Annual Grammy Awards air January 28th, 2018 at 7:30p est. on CBS. Click here to read more.
