Teachers need to be paid more in Western New York. Only ONE school district in Western New York averages paying their teachers more than $100,000 a year.

Now, $100,000 is A GOOD AMOUNT of money. I am not saying that is not enough. But, on average, a lot of the school districts in the area do not pay their teachers enough. Especially, for the amount of work and responsibility our teachers have.

Buffalo Business First had a great informational post about the median incomes of each school district in Western New York. There are quite a few school districts in all 8 counties in the area--Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming.

I have family members that are teachers and I see the hard work and long hours that they put into their job. Some people say that teachers get paid too much and I always respond with: "then why don't you become a teacher then". Teachers are one of the most important jobs and roles in your kid's life. Here is an inside look at how much teachers get paid in Western New York.

Here are the lowest average paying school districts: 

  • Whitesville Central School District on average pays teachers $47,568.
  • Letchworth Central School District on average pays teachers $46,767.
  • Perry Central School District on average pays teachers $45,735

Here are the highest average paying school districts: 

  • Williamsville Central School District on average pays teachers $100,750.
  • Niagara Falls City School District on average pays teachers $98,653.
  • Clarence Central School District on average pays teachers $95,691.
