When it comes to the latest version of the Buffalo Sabres, the names Rasmus Dahlin, Victor Olofsson, and Kyle Okposo are the names that come to mind.  But one player on the roster is providing the team more value than all the rest.

When it comes to making the playoffs in the NHL, or any sport for that matter, it comes down to having a solid roster from top to bottom.  Yes, the big-name players with big contracts make a huge difference.  But the General Managers that find the Diamonds in the rough are the ones that continually make the playoffs.

Brian Cashman of the New York Yankees is a master at this, as players like Gio Urshella, Isaiah Kiner-Falefa, and Jose Trevino were acquired for peanuts and paid dividends for the club.  The same can be said for the job Brandon Beane is doing in Orchard Park with the Bills.  Players like Micah Hyde, Jameson Crowder, and OJ Howard were all plucked from the rosters of other teams and helped to fortify the team's roster from top to bottom.

So who is the player on the Sabres that is providing the team the most bang for their buck?

According to the website Bookies.com, who took a look at each NHL team's roster and the $81.5 million in cap space they had to work with in 2021-2022 to discover the most undervalued NHL player for each team

They took into account each player's production on the ice, and how their current contract affected their team's salary cap.

The Sabres' Tage Thompson checked in as the 9th most undervalued player in the entire NHL.  The 24-year-old Center played the 2021-2022 season on a $1.4 Million Dollar contract appearing in 78 games scoring 38 goals, notching 38 assists, and totaling 68 points.

He was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 2016, and acquired by the Sabres as part of a 2018 trade in exchange for Ryan O'Reilly.
