Traffic on Interstate 90 heading westbound was backed up on Wednesday evening, approximately 4-miles, due to a medical emergency involving a suicidal person. According to WGRZ, a person who potentially wanted to take their own life ran into a wooded area off of the interstate. A medical flight had been requested to take the person to a hospital. New York State Police said the person had a knife and had inflicted wounds upon themself. The incident took place between exits 48A and 49, close to Clarence. All lanes of traffic on the I-90 westbound were blocked off until approximately 6:15 pm.

WGRZ's traffic tracker tweeted,

"From Traffic Tracker 2's Paul Hare: ALL LANES are blocked on the 90 West between 48A and 49. Police were reportedly pursuing a vehicle on the 90 West and that chase has come to an end, now blocking all lanes. Gridlock for almost 4 miles. @WGRZ"
