STD Rates Climbing ‘Out Of Control’ Across New York

Infection rates for various STDs, including chlamydia, syphilis, and gonorrhea, have seen year-over-year increases in the double digits based on data that the CDC made available at their 2022 STD Prevention Conference.

This has many medical professionals sounding the alarm because infections seem to be increasing at a nearly out-of-control pace.

Many medical officials point toward the COVID-19 Pandemic as being one of the key drivers of this current epidemic. With people pushing to come back outside from the COVID lockdowns, they may be engaging in more unsafe sex in an effort to feel free.

With the recent emergence of Monkeypox, officials are especially concerned that things will get worse before they get better. New York has already enacted an State of Emergency in an attempt to prevent Monkeypox from expanding from its current state as an outbreak.

Medical officials from the New York State Department of Health, who issued a health alert to medical professionals earlier this year about the sharp increase in STD rates, have some good tips to help keep yourself safe and health. Doing things like practicing abstinence, using condoms, having fewer partners, talking with your partner, and getting tested will go a long way to help keep you in good shape.
