RIP Heavy D [VIDEO]
On November 8 2011 Hip Hop lost another great MC. WBLK remembers Heavy D with some personal pics, video and music inside.
Heavy D — real name Dwight Arrington Myers — was pronounced dead at a LA hospital this day last year. He was 44 years old.
The Grammy nominee had multiple hits during his 25-year career, including his cover of "Mr. Big Stuff" in 1987 and 1991's "Now That We Found Love."
Mourners at his funeral included longtime friend Sean "Diddy" Combs, musicians Jay-Z, Usher, John Legend and Q-Tip, actors Samuel L. Jackson, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah and Rosie Perez and boxing promoter Don King.
The official cause of death is a pulmonary embolism following a long flight. Is it just me, or do the "friendly skies" seem to be not so friendly to celebrities lately?
Right before his death, Heavy D released an album titled the Love Opus. Listen to it in his memory
