Niagara Falls Ice Cream Shop Is Scooping For Veterans
De-Dee’s Dairy l 8715 Niagara Falls Boulevard in Niagara Falls, is giving one dollar from each sale of their pup ice cream cups to WNY Heroes, Pawsitive Heroes program. Supporting WNY charities is not new to Dee Dee's, last October having presented a check for $1,100 to the Niagara County SPCA from pup cup purchases.
“We love being involved with the community and being able to share different experiences and help out in any way that we can,” said Krista Urso manager.
The Pawsitive Heroes program helps veterans pay for service dog training and maintenance. The service dogs help veterans manage a variety of issues.
According to NEWS 4 (WIVB-TV), WNY Heroes' “Pawsitive for Heroes” program will pay for service dog training as a result of the help they receive from their sponsors. The dogs and their owners go through various courses together, properly preparing the dogs to serve those who’ve served.
Christ Krieger, President, and Co-Founder of WNY Heroes said that a service dog can go anywhere his owner goes ... The dog has to listen directly to the handler. It can only be touched by the handler. So there’s a huge difference between a therapy dog and a service dog. When they put their vests on, a service dog is working. It’s all business. When the vest comes off, they go right back to being normal house dogs.”
“Our service dogs are used for PTSD, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, anything after your military service that you’re dealing with,” said Chris Kreiger president and co-founder.
Dee Dee's Diary is also known for their Custom Ice Cream cakes for your special occasion as well as their specialty cookies and by the way, I would recommend their Chocolate Chip Cookie made in conjunction with Lewiston's Village Bake Shop featuring Dee Dee's Vanilla Custard in the middle and rolled in Reeses Pieces !!
