23 People Were Arrested In Niagara County This Week
Police in Niagara County spent the past week arresting people accused of crimes. Niagara County is made up of quite a few cities, towns, and villages, including the City of Lockport, the City of North Tonawanda, the City of Niagara Falls, the Town of Lewiston, the Town of Lockport, the Town of Wheatfield, and the Village of Youngstown.
As of July 1, 2023, (the most recent data available), the United States Census Bureau estimates that Niagara County has a population of 209,457. Violent crime in New York State is actually relatively low overall. World Population Review says that the murder rate is 4.8. Compared to Mississippi, the state with the highest murder rate (23.7), New York is not so bad.

According to Crime Grade, the crime rate in Niagara County is 28.70 per 1,000 residents in an average year. Niagara County is in the 21st percentile when it comes to safety. That means that 79 percent of counties are safer than it and 21 percent of counties are more dangerous. That is definitely not good news.
