A 1.5-acre parcel of land that has sat vacant along Niagara Falls Boulevard for years, is now showing signs of life, as construction crews have moved in and begun to clear the land to make way for not one, but two new fast-food restaurants...sort of.

The property, which is located on Niagara Falls Boulevard, is also accessible from Wurlitzer Drive off Erie Avenue. The 23-acre site was the former home of the Melody Fair Performing Arts center and saw its first transformation back in 2013 when a Wal-mart Super Center was built on the land.

The Neighboring Wurlitzer Building, originally constructed in 1892, has seen a flourish of development in recent years.  The facility now hosts weddings and events and hosts several businesses that have opened recently.  Platters Chocolates opened its chocolate factory and Ice cream shop in 2016. Woodcock brothers opened their Brewery and restaurant in 2019.  And most recently Fatty Beer Co. opened their 5th location in the Wurlitzer building in 2021, joining their other locations in Hamburg, Buffalo, Ellicottville, and Orchard Park.

Taco Bell and KFC are owned by parent company Yum! Brands,  A Fortune 500 company based in Louisville, Kentucky, that has over 53,000 restaurants in more than 155 countries and territories.  They also operate Pizza Hut and The Habit Burger Grill locations across the US.

There is no set opening date for the new Taco Bell/KFC combo location yet.  But, progress is happening at a furious pace, and there are reports that it could be opened by the end of the summer.
