Legoland Finally Opening Their New York Location
It's been talked about since 2019 -- a Legoland location coming to New York, which excited families here in the state since the only other locations are in California and Florida.
The park is located in Hudson Valley and was originally supposed to have its grand opening last summer, but obviously, the COVID-19 pandemic ruined those plans as major theme parks couldn't reopen in New York State in 2020, according to Theme Park Insider.
However, the announcement made this week by Governor Andrew Cuomo that outdoor amusement parks could reopen starting on April 9th has changed that, and now, Legoland New York will finally be able to open in 2021!
Legoland New York Resort will operate seasonally, due to the climate here in New York State, and will feature more than 50 rides and attractions on a 150-acre site.
There's no opening date set just yet but that should be coming very soon.
"We are thrilled with Governor Cuomo's announcement for the reopening of family attractions, including outdoor theme parks," Legoland New York Divisional Director Stephanie Johnson said. "This means Legoland New York Resort will be able to celebrate its grand opening this season as planned and we look forward to sharing more details soon.
Legoland New York is roughly a five-hour drive from Buffalo, but if you're looking to have a fun vacation that's not that far away (staying in-state), then this looks perfect, especially if you have kids.
