The Buffalo Bills and general manager Brandon Beane did something on Friday that fans have been waiting for since the start of the Bills offseason workouts: signing franchise quarterback Josh Allen to a lucrative contract extension.

The deal is a six-year extension that is worth $258 million and $150 million in guaranteed money. The contract, according to Allen (Via Ryan Talbot of New York Upstate), is structured in a way where it will allow the Bills to move money around and that is what he wanted. The average money per year increases from just over $16 million per season in 2022 to over $39 million in 2023.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane, head coach Sean McDermott and quarterback Josh Allen talked with Buffalo media members on Friday evening and talked about the contract extension.

Some great quotes from all involved, but there's one quote from Allen that is really making Bills fans feel great about their franchise quarterback.

Allen said the extension is not because of what he's done, but rather what he is "expected to do in the future."

That quote truly shows that Allen gets it and how to have the proper mindset of an NFL starting quarterback. It's a tremendously mature response.

Allen went on to say he loves Buffalo's "work hard" mentality and clearly has meshed well with the community.

All amazing quotes and what's the most impressive is this contract extension was finalized just after Friday's practice and according to Beane's press conference on Friday evening, was 98 percent done as of the morning; which means Allen had this hanging over his head and still went out and had his (by all accounts) best day of practice at camp.

The Bills and their fans are hoping this is just the start of a very long and successful career in Buffalo for Allen.
