It is hard to believe that the Buffalo Sabres are playing meaningful hockey in the middle of March, but they are, and they are one of the best teams in the NHL. The Buffalo Sabres have been on a heater since they came back from the Olympic break and now find themselves in a VERY unfamiliar spot.

With their win last night in Las Vegas, the Buffalo Sabres have 90 points on the season and moved into a tie with the Carolina Hurricanes for 1st place in the Eastern Conference.



When Will The Buffalo Sabres Clinch A Playoff Spot?

Most NHL experts agree that a team will need 95 points to make the playoffs in any given year. The Sabres, after their win against Las Vegas, now have 90 points. So that means they wouild only need two more wins and an overtime loss to get to that magical number of 95 points.

So when could that happen? Well, as soon as this Sunday. The Sabres are on a West Coast swing and will play three more games between now and Sunday night. That means by the end of Sunday's game, the Sabres could have 95 or more points and be set to end their playoff drought.
