Fine Coming For Cheap Shot During Sabres Game?

It was a bad night for the Buffalo Sabres in Game 3 of their series against the Montreal Canadiens, but it was even worse for one player, who absorbed a cheap shot while on the ice.

Montreal Player To Be Fined For Cheap Shot During Game 3?

The Buffalo Sabres were outplayed most of the night during Game 3 in their series against the Montreal Canadiens. Things got a bit chippy throughout the game, but one incident went a bit overboard, and that could lead to a fine for one Montreal player.

The play happened during a scrum near the end of the game when Arber Xhekaj landed a sucker punch to the jaw of Sabres player Sam Carrick.

While most times players will rabbit punch each other with gloves on during scrums, most players don't throw true punches unless they square off against the other player. In my mind, this was a total cheap shot.

Carrick wasn't even facing Xhekaj when he came in with the punch to Carrick's jaw. I think the NHL will step in and at least fine Xhekaj for the sucker punch.

I also think that Sabres players will be hunting for him in Game 4. I think they are not going to stand for this kind of play, and Game 4 will be just as, in not more, chippy than Game 3.

Montreal leads the series 2 games to 1, with Game 4 set for Tuesday night in Montreal.
