WHO WERE THE BUFFALO JILLS?

The Buffalo Jills were a cheerleading group that was founded in 1967 and cheered on the Buffalo Bills until 2014. The Jills also help raise money for local charities by selling a swimsuit calendar and making local appearances at area businesses. The Jills became the NFL's only muti-county cheerleading squad in 2008 when they cheer at Bills' home games in Orchard Park, New York, and Toronto Canada.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BUFFALO JILLS?

The Jills were run by Citidal Radio which broadcasted the Bills games in Western New York. After the cheer squad was selected in 2014, five former Jills filed a lawsuit against the team and the radio group citing they were forced to work and not get paid. Two days after the lawsuit was filed, management disbanded the cheerleading group.

WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE LAWSUIT?

It took eight years, but in 2022, a judge ruled in favor of the Jills and ordered Cumulus, who bought the stations from Citidal to pay $4 million dollars to settle the lawsuit. The Bills were also ordered to pay $3.5 million dollars to settle the lawsuit.

SO WILL THE JILLS BE BACK ON THE SIDELINES AT GAMES?

As of this writing, no. There are no plans for the Buffalo Jills to return but former members of the squad still get together and hold reunions. Now that a year has passed there might be a chance that the Bills reconsider bringing back a fan favorite.
