Sudden Closure Of Popular Buffalo Business Shocks Locals

Buffalo has no shortage of places to grab a cup of coffee, but there was one that stood out amongst the sea of drive-thru chains and local shops. 

Buffalo residents love to support small businesses in the area, and we understand how important it is to help them stay afloat these days. The hardships of the pandemic and the dramatic increase in prices due to inflation has caused several Western New York businesses to struggle. 

It always hurts our heart to see a locally owned business close their doors, but the sudden closure of this one particular local spot really stings. 

Remedy House Was One Of The Best Coffee Shops In Buffalo

From its humble roots as a coffee cart to becoming a massively popular spot in the Five Points neighborhood of Buffalo, Remedy House was at the top of several “best of” lists in Western New York. 

Locals gushed over their amazing breakfast sandwiches, with many calling their egg on a roll with garlic aioli “the best breakfast sandwich in Buffalo.” It was the perfect place to sit outside and people watch on a summer day while sipping on an iced latte or a basil lemonade. 

Sadly, and what seems like out of nowhere, this iconic local business has joined countless others in folding up shop.

Remedy House In Buffalo, New York Closed

It's the end of an era.

Late Tuesday night, the owners of Remedy House posted on social media that they were closing the popular shop effective immediately. 

“After a lot of careful deliberation and planning, we have decided the time has come for us to move on.” - Remedy House

It’s still a mystery as to why they decided to close, and so quickly at that. Potential rising costs may have had something to do with it, however Remedy House has also seen issues with unionization and failed expansion recently. 

However, there is good news for its local fans. In the Instagram post announcing their closure, the owners stated that a more detailed announcement was on the way regarding a “future version” of Remedy House.
