
New York State Police Launch “Speed Week 2″
The New York State Police have pulled a very "Hollywood" type of move and have launched a sequel to their "Speed Week." Yesterday, the New York State Police launched "Speed Week 2" in hopes of slowing people down on the roads in New York State.
New York State Police Launch "Speed Week 2"
In an effort to make the roads safer in New York State, the New York State Police, along with local police departments, launched a new enforcement campaign aimed at slowing speeders down across New York State.
During "Speed Week 2" police will have more patrols along highways and roads across New York State, with the goal of cracking down on Speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, and Move Over Law violations.
"Speed Week 2" kicked off on Monday and will continue until Sunday, August 9th.
Thousands OF Tickets Written During New York State Speed Week
This week is the 2nd time New York State police have conducted a Speed Week in New York State. The first speed week was back in June this year, and the results were staggering.
During the first speed week, New York State police issued 56,578 total tickets during the week. 14,005 of those tickets were issued for speeding. They also issued 2,220 tickets for distracted driving and 1,386 for impaired driving.

The first Speed Week ran from Monday, June 8, through Sunday, June 14th.
No word yet if there is a "Speed Week 3" planned for later this year in New York State.
