Recently, an article was published by 24/7 Wall St. which compiled the worst place to live in every single state in America. And if you saw New York’s worst city to live in, you may be shocked to learn that it’s only home to just about 18,000 people. 

How did 24/7 Wall St. determine the worst place to live in New York?

For this research study, Wall St. looked at different categories of data, like poverty level, home prices, and income that was then compiled together to determine the overall quality of life, based on that information. 

What Is The Worst City In New York State?

After analyzing all of the data, 24/7 Wall St. concluded that the worst place to live in New York was Amsterdam, NY, home of the Sanford Clock Tower. According to the research, Amsterdam has a poverty rate of 23.8%, nearly double the state’s average, with a median home value of $92,900. The median household income in Amsterdam is $43,164. And the drug-induced mortality in Amsterdam is 17.6 deaths per 100,000.
