Vietnam Veterans Memorial Replica Wall Is In Cheektowaga This Weekend
2025 has seen quite a few things come to Western New York to keep people entertained. In fact, this year has been one of the best for fun things to do. However, starting this week, there is one event happening that is deeply meaningful to Americans, especially to some who live right here in the Empire State.
Since the nation's start nearly 250 years ago, the Buffalo area has ties to some of the biggest events in our history. From our founding to our wars, there is always a Buffalo connection. Given that connection, it's quite an honor for the 716 to be able to host a major traveling veterans memorial right here in our backyard.

In 1982, the United States established the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. to honor the more than 58,000 American men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice to the United States during the Vietnam War. That memorial, which sits on a two-acre site, consists of 72 polished black granite panels engraved with the names of the service members who died or are still missing from thier services during the war.
Since 1984, a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial has traveled the country to be able to share the experience of honoring our veterans with those who are not able to make it to DC.
Now, for more than 40 years, The Moving Wall has traveled the nation, and now people in Western New York have an opportunity to see it for themselves.
From Thursday, October 2, 2025, at noon, until Monday, October 6, 2025, at 6 pm, The Moving Wall will be in Western New York at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cheektowaga.
This is the first time a href="https://www.themovingwall.org/" target="_blank">The Moving Wall has been in the region since 2021. The display will be open and available 24 hours a day until it leaves WNY on October 6th.
In addition to The Moving Wall, the GoldStars Tribute Wall will also be at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
