You Can Get Smoked Cheesecake with BBQ Sauce in Western New York
What is the most unique menu item you've ever tried in Western New York? We have one that might be one of a kind.
It feels like you've tried food that has been prepared in just about every way possible. Then suddenly you find something that you've never seen before, and it blows your mind. After that first bite, your brain doesn't even know how to process what is happening in your mouth. A lot of the time you will sit there trying for minutes to decide, "do I like this, or not?"
Sometimes it's something that someone else suggests for you. Then there are the times that you just stumble on it, and as soon as it hits your taste buds you feel like you need to tell someone about it.
Don't get me wrong, it's not always good, but when it's unique, you want the world to know that you've had it.
Have you had smoked cheesecake before?
There used to be a restaurant called Chi-Chi's that made Mexican food back in the 80s and 90s. They had something called fried ice cream and I thought it was one of the weirdest concoctions around. It was ice cream that they battered and then threw in a fryer to get a crispy crust around the outside. It was delicious and you could only find it there for a little while.
Over the weekend, I had something that kind of reminded me of that. It was a smoked cheesecake. We found it at a new barbeque place called "Yankee BBQ Smokehouse & Tavern" in Hamburg. It was very interesting. You could definitely taste the smoke in the aftertaste and it actually had barbeque sauce on it.
I have to be honest that my taste buds were very confused at first. I was sharing it with my wife and I'm not much of a sweets person. But it's one that you should try for yourself.
What is the most unique menu item that you've ever found on a menu in Western New York? Where was it? I'd like to try them for myself!
