Here's Why Hamburg Schools Were In Lockdown Monday Morning

This morning, Hamburg Schools went into lockdown as a precaution due to law enforcement activity outside of the school.

According to a letter to parents from Superintendent Tom Adams, law enforcement was pursuing suspects outside of the Hamburg middle and high schools. Along with the Town of Hamburg police department and the Village of Hamburg police department they decided to go into lockdown as a precaution.

The lockdown has since been lifted.

They said that there was no threat for the students inside either building at any point in time during the pursuit.

"The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we practice drills throughout the year to be prepared in situations like these. Thank you, as always, for your support." - Superintendent Tom Adams

While situations like these can be scary, when it comes to our kids and the rest of our family, it's always good to know that there are plans in place to keep them safe.

It's good that this situation was handled exactly as it should have been.
