Buffalo, New York Restaurants That Are Tricking You On GrubHub

Eagle-eyed users of Grubhub, Uber Eats, and DoorDash have noticed that oftentimes, several different restaurants listed on the app are all located at the same address. Weird, right?

Recently, when googling the address of the place I ordered food from, the name of the establishment didn’t come up. Instead, google said the location of the mystery restaurant was actually Clay Handi Restaurant on Delaware Ave.

Western New York Is Filled With Ghost Kitchens

Some Western New York residents believe that Clay Handi could be the location of several “ghost kitchens.”

Ghost kitchens are essentially restaurants that don’t have a storefront. Customers can’t physically go there to eat because there is no dining room or waitstaff, but you could order their food on delivery apps.

These “pop up” restaurants became popular during the pandemic, as they helped restaurants abide by all of the restrictions while still making money.

Based on the experience of local Grubhub users, it seems that many restaurants have kept their ghost kitchens going.

We’re not really sure why - maybe a particular ghost kitchen brings in a lot of money, so it wouldn’t make sense to get rid of it. It could also be a strategy to eliminate nearby competition on food delivery apps when customers are searching for a specific type of food in their area.

Either way, Clay Handi lists several different restaurants available for delivery on food apps that are all under other names.

One diligent Buffalo Reddit user took the time to list them all, which was incredibly eye-opening.
