It's a pretty common thing that Buffalonians often notice on their way into or out of work and it's something we are proud of.
The smell comes from the General Mills plant that sits over by Riverworks at the end of Ganson and Michigan Street. You can see it from the Skyway too if you're driving that way.
This morning, it was maple that filled the air
This morning as you were driving in, you may have noticed a different aroma other than everyone's favorite oat cereal. Instead of that common Cheerios smell, it was the smell of maple syrup. As you drove down Ohio Street, it was as if someone had made pancakes or french toast and delivered them right to your car. It was crazy how recognizable it was.

"It’s a maple Chex. Went on the Buffalo River History tour and because we could smell them they talked about it. They’re new!"
