The weather has been mostly fine for Friday and it's been that way for the most part the past two months.

However, it all changes tonight and through Sunday night.

There's both a High Wind Warning and a Winter Storm Warning for all of Western New York. Times of the Winter Storm Warning depends on where you live but for Erie County, the warning goes until 7 am Monday.

The National Weather Service says anywhere from 1-3 feet of snow is possible, with wind gusts reaching 65 mph on Saturday. Sunday's wind gusts will reach 45 mph. Both days will have lake effect snow, which combined with the wind will create whiteout and unsafe driving conditions.

Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for Western New York.

The National Weather Service is discouraging travel this weekend, while Hochul recommended that those who don't have tickets to Sunday's Bills playoff game, to stay home.

The National Weather Service says blizzard conditions are possible during this storm, at least for some portion of it. The whiteout conditions could make driving impossible, especially Saturday night and into Sunday.

The Bills game on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers will be played from 1-4 pm. The band of heavy lake effect snow could be directly over the stadium, which would pose a huge challenge for the players and fans. Getting to the stadium will be a problem; we won't know how much until we reach Sunday morning.

The bad news for us is the snow won't end on Monday.

Accumulating snow is expected for Monday and Tuesday, with another round of snow end of next week. It's going to be a cold and snowy next 10 days in Western New York.

Please be careful if you have to travel this weekend.
