It’s Not Cheap But it’s Convenient, Camping Reservations for NY State Fair are Open
How much is convenience worth? If you're deeply involved at the New York State Fair, like kids competing in 4-H projects camping may be right up your alley. It's not cheap, but it is certainly convenient. Reservations are open now, but don't dally, there are only a few hundred spots available.
Reservations for full-service camping in the Empire RV Park includes water, sewer and electric service, although you do need to provide your own hookups. The park is located next to the midway making it a true convenience. But you could get sticker shock when first looking at the price, $830 plus a service fee of $7.25. But a little math work will show the price isn't much different than many campgrounds.
The reservations run for twenty-three days, August 15 to Labor Day, September 6, five days before the fair starts and then eighteen days of the fair, making it about thirty-six dollars a day. The price includes two - 18 day admission wristbands to the fair and parking for one vehicle, a 2nd vehicle can be added to the yellow parking lot for $231.
With only 303 spots available, Fair Director Troy Waffner says it's first come, first served,
Anyone interested in camping in the Empire RV Park should get a reservation quickly because space always sells out.
If the full service prize is too steep or you're looking for a shorter stay, daily camping is available in the Pink parking lot across from the Fairgrounds. Those spots are $25.68 a night for a camper and vehicle, but does not include electric, water or sewer service or admission to the fair. Your own generators are allowed, sewage dumping stations are provided and restrooms with showers are available. Reservations for daily camping begin July 15.
