It's been nearly 19 months since the COVID-19 pandemic started here in Western New York and while the region, along with the rest of New York State, is in a much better place than it was in the spring of 2020 and the winter of 2020-2021, government leaders are still encouraging residents to get vaccinated.

Currently, 78 percent of Erie County residents 18 or older have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine. 66 percent of the total population has at least one dose.

Here are the vaccination rates for those 18+ in the other Western New York counties:

  • Niagara: 72 percent
  • Cattaraugus: 58 percent
  • Chautauqua: 65 percent

There are currently eight zip codes in Western New York that have a vaccination rate of 99%+, per WKBW.

One of them, Bowmansville (14026) has a 100 percent vaccination rate.
