Here Are The Craziest School Drop Off Lines In WNY
With a shortage of bus drivers in WNY, more parents are taking their kids to school, and that causing some long lines near area schools.
One of the biggest issues for area schools so far this fall is getting the kids to and fro school on school buses. Many area districts are short on bus drivers which is causing delays with getting kids to and from school on time. Some schools have shifted the times each school in the district start and ends to help with the shortage of drivers.
Other schools have asked parents to help out by taking and picking up their kids instead of using school transportation. This has caused some major delays around school as more vehicles are on the road during peak driving times in the morning and afternoon.
I have seen the school drop-off and pick-ups get crazy long this year firsthand. I drop off my son Avry at Frontier High School every morning and the line along Bayview gets crazy sometimes. They have Hamburg police on the scene to direct traffic and the line moves at a good clip, but with the sheer volume of traffic on that road, there are some major delays.
Last year, we lived in the Sweet Home school district and I know that the high school doesn't have a huge parking lot so this year more cars are stuck on Sweet Home road waiting to pick up or drop off. Of course, anyone driving down that road will see delays due to that traffic.
Most schools are doing a great job getting the kids in and out of the cars quickly but with more and more parents taking their kids to school instead of the bus, traffic around schools is a bit more crazy this year than in years past.
