You know what irks me about all this "OPTING OUT" business, it's NOT the kids who are opting out but the parents. Additionally, I'm perplexed at how parents are "opting" their kids "out" without even seeing the test in advance, especially after the test has been shortened and time constraints relaxed, giving kids as much time as they need. Plus now teachers will not be evaluated on the result of test scores either.

All of these "fixes" are based upon NYS State Education Department Commissioner MaryEllen Elia having travelled across the state getting feedback regarding the tests from parents, teachers and school administrators as to what the problems were. Although she has addressed these issues, many parents are simply "OPTING OUT".
