Elon Musk is trending in Western New York, but it isn’t for his recent business acquisition.

Within the last week, Twitter has become a privately owned company after the social media platform agreed to a business deal with Elon Musk.

Musk placed a bid of $44 billion for the social media platform, and the company agreed to the terms.

Shareholders are set to be paid out at a rate of $54.20 per share.

When the news broke about Musk’s pending purchase of Twitter, people had a lot of differing opinions, but perhaps the most common reaction to Musk’s purchase is similar to author John W. Dean.

“Not sure I am interested in Twitter if Elon Musk owns it,” Dean said.

And that’s kind of fair, right? Did we even get much of a say in how Twitter was run in the first place?

Days after the Twitter news, a photo was posted to 716 Memes suggesting that Elon Musk could acquire the City of Lockport next.

Ok, ok…the meme is funny, I’ll admit, but the City of Lockport is worth more than that…if Elon Musk were to purchase it, though there has not been any news of that happening.

I actually called the City of Lockport’s treasurer office to see if there was some way to measure the true monetary value of the city, to which the person on the other end of the phone said, “I do not know the answer to that.” Lol.

But if you know someone who happens to be an expert estimator on cities (like maybe I don’t know…an economics professor at UB?), tell them to email kadie@wyrk.com. The fact that I cannot find the answer to the question is killing me.
