Denzel Curry, Calboy, Skepta and More: New Projects This Week
If Drake’s courtside antics during this year’s NBA Finals aren’t enough to keep you entertained over the next few days, try checking out some of this week’s newly premiered projects.
Denzel Curry, who is currently touring with Billie Eilish, unleashes ZUU. The Florida native’s fourth full-length album features the singles “Speedboat” and “Ricky,” as well as contributions from Rick Ross, Tay Keith and Ice Billion Berg. To celebrate the project's release, the Carol City, Fla. rapper drew a self-portrait to symbolize its content for XXL's Masterpiece series. ZUU arrives less than a year after the “Clout Cobain” rapper dropped his last album, TA13OO. Featuring J.I.D, Billie Eilish and GoldLink, the 2016 XXL Freshman’s 2018 project received critical acclaim and debuted in the top 30 on the Billboard 200.
Calboy reassures that he’s a wild one with his latest release. Following the success of his platinum hit “Envy Me,” the rapper out of Chicago delivers his Wildboy EP. Released via Polo Grounds Music/RCA Records, the project houses the records “Caroline—a collaboration with Polo G—and the heartfelt Moneybagg Yo-assisted “Unjudge Me,” as well as contributions from Lil Durk, Yo Gotti and Meek Mill.
Skepta returns this week with Ignorance Is Bliss. A legend of the grime scene, the “It Ain’t Safe” rapper is back with his first album in three years. The British MC with OVO and A$AP Mob ties previewed his most recent release with the singles "Bullet From a Gun," "Greaze Mode" and last year’s “Pure Water.”
