I can't imagine the sadness and anger that the families of each of these victims is going through. Not only were their loved ones taken away from them violently, but they also can't get closure or justice because the cases haven't been solved. The oldest unsolved case below is from 2002. Tyresse "Donnie" Harris was killed almost 20 years ago, in 2002, on Sweet Street in Buffalo. His family has had to endure two decades without any answers about who took him from them.
Erie County Declares Gun Violence a Public Health Crisis
With the recent uptick in gun violence here in Western New York, Erie County has declared it a public health crisis. Erie County Executive, Mark Poloncarz, made the announcement recently, saying,
“Did we ever think that we’d be worse than the Bronx with regard to violent crime with a firearm? No, but this is 2020, not even 2021. I don’t know what 2021 is going to say but we know we have a very serious issue with regards to gun violence in our community.” Mark Poloncarz via WIVB
