COVID-19 continues to spread at a high rate in Erie County. For the eighth straigt week cases have increased according to the Erie County Department of Health. And it that's not bad enough, the Governor of New York recently announced that she contracted the virus. Gov. Kathy Hochul made the announcement on Twitter on May 8, 2022,
Today I tested positive for COVID-19. Thankfully, I’m vaccinated and boosted, and I’m asymptomatic. I’ll be isolating and working remotely this week. A reminder to all New Yorkers: get vaccinated and boosted, get tested, and stay home if you don’t feel well.
It's just a reminder that COVID-19 is alive and well, despite all of our summer plans.
Here in Erie County, COVID-19 is making its rounds,
5,005 new COVID-19 cases were recorded for the week ending May 7, 2022. This is a 2% increase compared to the previous week (4,893 cases). These data do not include at-home tests. I know, you don't want to hear about COVID-19, but ignoring it won't make it go away. And it's funny because I always see people commenting that these articles I write about COVID-19 are political ploys or that I was paid by big pharma, but I can guarantee you, that neither is true here. My only goal is to remind you that COVID-19 has not gone away, period.
