Cheektowaga Police Involved Shooting in North Buffalo

It goes without saying that police officers around the nation have a difficult job to do. The role of keeping us safe is something that often goes without thanks and comes with a lot of scrutiny. This, of course, is important as people who are empowered by the government to be able to take away someone's freedom and/or their life, it's important that the men and women who serve in uniform have to uphold a high standard when it comes to their actions.

When officers are involved in shootings, its important for us to find out exactly what happened and who did what.

That exact thing is happening in North Buffalo as the Buffalo Police Department and Cheektowaga Police Department are reporting that there was an officer involved shooting in North Buffalo on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, around 12:30 pm.

Information surrounding the circumstances that led to the officer involved shooting are still not available, but the quiet North Buffalo near the corner of Colvin Avenue and Sanders Road was filled with activity as several Cheektowaga Police Department cars speed through the city of Buffalo to an apartment building on Sanders Road. Cheektowaga Police officials say that a weapon was discharged, but have provided no further information.

According to the Buffalo Police Department, the BPD is working with the Cheektowaga PD and New York State Office of the Attorney General to investigate what occurred during the incident.

With several blocks of the main thoroughfare in North Buffalo blocked off, many neighbors expressed feelings of uneasiness surrounding the shooting in general and why Cheektowaga Police were so far outside of their jurisdiction.
