Cardi B, 21 Savage Among Forbes’ Hip-Hop Future Moguls of 2018
We all know Diddy, JAY-Z and Dr. Dre are the master class of hip-hop entrepreneurs, but the next class of rap super moguls—the one that comes after the Drakes, Weeknds and Kendrick Lamars of the world—is already taking shape, and the folks at Forbes have already done their best to identify it with their Hip-Hop Future Moguls of 2018 list.
Among the entries to the 2018 edition of the list, known formerly as Hip-Hop Cash Princes, are Cardi B and 21 Savage, both of whom enjoyed a transformational 2017. Let's start things off with Bardi.
If you didn't know, last summer she conquered the world with "Bodak Yellow," an anthemic flexing anthem that made her the first solo female act to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart since Lauryn Hill in 1998. The single also went platinum.
Then you have 21, whose Issa Album solidified his status as a rap superstar when it dropped last summer. The track's single, "Bank Account," gave him his highest-charting song to date. It's fitting then that Post Malone, whose platinum-selling single "Rock Star" features 21, is also on the list. He's did huge things in 2016 and 2017, and 2018 doesn't seem like it will be any different.
Also on the list are Playboi Carti, whose single "Magnolia" was as ubiquitous as any track in 2017 (120 million Spotify streams), and Lil Pump, whose song "Gucci Gang" shot all the way to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. He's not even 18 yet.
Dave East, Tyler, The Creator, WondaGurl also make the list. Check out the whole thing at Forbes.com.
