Lookout For Buffalo Police Cruising The Streets In New Vehicles
You know that when people get new cars they act up, right? They want to drive everywhere and pick everyone up. Well, that could mean trouble for people committing crimes in Buffalo. The Buffalo Police Department just added 26 new patrol vehicles to its fleet. We'll probably see them riding the new whips all over the city soon, so folks who are doing dirt have been put on a warning.
According to an email I received from Mayor Byron Brown's Office, The Buffalo Police Department is putting the 26 new Ford Explorer SUVs on the road this week. The email said the vehicles are specially equiped and are a part of the Department's plan to build up its patrol fleet. It doesn't say what they are "specially-equiped" with, but maybe it's torch guns or cool tire-slicers. Or maybe just the normal stuff that police vehicles are fitted with. One thing I can tell you for sure is that I have no plans on personally finding out. But, hey, let me know if you do.
The Department will be adding another 20 vehicles later this summer once the supply chain finally catches up with demand, so just know that the 'block is hot.' Once the department gets its money from the City of Buffalo 2022-2023 budget, which should come by the end of the year, another 40 vehicles will be purchased. If you're not great at math, that's a total of 86 new patrol cars that the department plans to roll out this year.
