Buffalo Bisons Announce Opening Day and 2025 Schedule
Even though Major League Baseball is in the process of wrapping up the 2024 season with the World Series between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers, it's never too early to think about Baseball for the next season. Thanks to the Buffalo Bisons, we're much closer to getting back on the diamond next spring.
The hometown baseball team wrapped up its 139th season in September 2024 with a record of 68-80, finishing 10th in the International League of Minor League Baseball (MiLB). Now, the Toronto Blue Jays AAA affiliate is getting ready for next year.
Like most baseball fans in Western New York, one of the saddest days is when baseball ends for the year. However, the good thing is that it brings us one more day closer to spring, which is then opening day. The Bisons recently announced their schedule for the 2025 season in Buffalo, and that has put a mile on many faces around the 716.
The Buffalo Bisons Release Their 2025 Season Schedule
The Herd are set to play 150 games in 2025, split equally between away games and home games at Sahlen Field. Thanks to the MiLB increasing the number of games Triple-A teams played a few years ago, the Bisons play an extra six games per year, up from the previous 144 games, to help keep the Minors aligned with the major leagues.
Opening day is set for Friday, March 28, 2025, which is the earliest the Bisons have ever started the season. Many fan-favorite themes are coming back in 2025.
The Bisons will be home on Armed Forces Day and Father's Day and will play 13 weekends in Buffalo over the season. Star Wars night will return on May 29th, and the team is going out of the way to have many weekend home games. Thirty-nine of the team's 75 home games will also be played on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. The Herd will have 12 Honda fridaynightbash!® games that feature fireworks after the game and 11 Funday Sundays that will have fun activities for kids and a 1:05 pm first pitch.
As a huge baseball fan, I cannot wait until the next season starts. There are several things on my 2025 baseball bucket list:
- Grabbing a beer
or threefrom my good friend Conehead, - Watching Buster T Bison entertain the people all over the stadium,
- Sitting on the Bully Hill Party Deck, watching the sunset during a game,
- Singing The Best after we win every home game,
- Catching some fireworks at the Friday Night Bash,
- and, of course, just enjoying an afternoon watching good baseball at Sahlen Field.
You can download a copy of next year's schedule on the Bisons' website. Get ready because we'll be watching another WCC race before you know it.
