Bobby Brown on Usher Herpes Scandal: ‘We Gotta Protect Ourselves’
As rumors and lawsuits continue to swirl around Usher, former R&B bad boy Bobby Brown offered words of advice to his younger contemporary. During an interview with 92.7 The Block in Charlotte, N.C., Brown was asked about Usher, who has been at the center of a media firestorm after several people alleged the singer exposed them to herpes.
“This is really none of my business but I think people should take care of themselves,” Bobby said. “People should understand that if you’re going go that way, then expect the worst. Protect yourself at all times."
In late July, Radar Online published documents that implicated the star as having had unprotected sex without disclosing he had the virus and paid 1.1 million to avoid a lawsuit. Shortly thereafter, another woman filed a lawsuit against the singer. After more lawsuits were filed by other alleged victims, the first woman,Quantasia Sharpton, held a press conference where she shared how she met the star.
"We spoke for a while, and then we engaged in sexual contact. He never warned me about any STDs,” Sharpton said.
So there's a lot going on. Bobby says avoid any such situation by being smart.
"This is not a life we’re living that we’re supposed to be unprotected," Brown warned. "We gotta protect ourselves.”
