A New York Sewage Pollution Right to Know alert has been issued after 330,000 gallons of untreated sewage was released into the Allegheny River.

According to WGRZ, a power outage and loss of communications created the problem that allowed the sewage to be released from an address on South Street in Olean.

The Allegheny Fire Department is also warning that the small boat launch is closed as well.

How much is 330,000 gallons?  They compare it to half the volume it would take to fill an Olympic size swimming pool.

This is a developing story and it will be updated as more information is available..
