This seems to be a never-ending cycle when talking about COVID-19 cases, but to be honest it's becoming a real problem again. The majority of people are being vaccinated, which is a good thing, but that's not the issue, there are a large number of people that are not being vaccinated and are being infected with the Delta variant. According to newsbreak.com, there are counties in New York state with very high COVID rates.

The Center for Disease Control recommends that fully vaccinated people in New York state start wearing their masks indoors again. People in counties where the rates are the highest should really be even more cautious. I know personally, it is easy to get comfortable again and forget that we are still in a pandemic, even with the number of things opening and feeling like normal we still have to be careful.

The CDC considers "High" levels of COVID transmission when there are 50 cases per 100,000 people over a seven-day time frame, or when the positivity rate is higher than five percent.

Which Counties In New York State Has High Infection Rates?

Well, the list is actually pretty long, but just to name a few, Eire County, Niagara County, and Cattaraugus County. Some businesses have already started requiring customers to wear masks while in their stores. I believe that if the infection rates keep climbing we will see mandatory mask-wearing again. Some of the local businesses in our community have started to require customers to wear masks as well.
