For many people, when we think about the holiday season, we think of that magical time of year where we gather around the dinner table to enjoy bountiful helpings of food with our loved ones.

Unfortunately, economic burden and food insecurity is a very serious problem in our communities, and many of our neighbors struggle to put warm, nutritious meals on the table for their families.

Luckily, Mark Talley and Agents for Advocacy are stepping up to help fight hunger in our community by making sure that assistance is available for those who need it most, and I want to tell you more about how you can help them this holiday season.

Agents for Advocacy will be hosting the Giving Thanks & Helpful Hands event at two different locations on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 24) where they'll be handing out bags of produce, hot Thanksgiving meals, as well as clothing and non-perishables.

  • One event will be happening at Friends of the Night People at 394 Hudson St from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • The other event will be at the corner of Utica and Jefferson at Frank E. Merriweather Library from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If you and your family are able to donate, I encourage you to give what you can to help Agents for Advocacy serve people in need here in Buffalo and WNY.

You can contact Friends of the Night People at 716-884-5357 to donate any non-perishables or clothing you might have or you can stop by Frank E. Merriweather Library today to drop off any clothing you would like to donate.

Agents for Advocacy is also accepting monetary donations via their $SocialChange89 Cash App handle or on Venmo @agentsforadvocacy.

Let's show our support to this incredible cause so that we can make sure we can take care of those who need a helping hand this Thanksgiving! Agents For Advocacy and Friends of Night People would like to thank their sponsors African Heritage Food Co-op and Main Event Banquet Hall along with contributions from United Healthcare, West Herr, and everyone in the community who donated.

If you would like to stay connected with Agents for Advocacy, you can follow them on Instagram.
