Breast cancer survivor and activist, Ms. Linda Gray will be our featured Keynote speaker! Linda is a native of Niagara Falls, NY and resident of Grand Island. Ms. Linda Gray, was named the “2018 Race for the Cure Honoree!” She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Komen Upstate New York. Ms. Gray is the first and only African American accepted into N.F.M.M.C School of  Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Technology.

Shannon Smith is currently a multimedia journalist for WIVB-TV in Buffalo. She joined the News 4 team in August 2017. Shannon is no stranger to cold weather! Hailing from the south side of Chicago, She began her media career in high school by working and writing for a teen publication called True Star MagazineShannon graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she earned her degree in Broadcast Journalism. She currently covers everything from breaking news to human interest stories across Western New York. She loves to connect with viewers and is always thankful to them for allowing her in their private space during what some of their most difficult times.

Buffalo native April Baskin is the Founder and Executive Director of the College Simulation Experience. April is passionate about community development for social change. As a former college drop-out April is conscious of the systemic challenges many women, people of color, and impoverished communities experience in terms of the education credentials needed for economic development. She is especially committed to serving under-serviced populations. April holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from SUNY Empire State College, and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs at Buffalo State College. In November 2017 April was elected to represent district 2 of the Erie County Legislature in the state of New York. She currently serves as the Body's Majority Leader, and Chairwoman of the Public Safety and Minority and Women Enterprise committees.

Kendra Brim is currently a Project Manager at BlueCross BlueShield of WNY. A native of Buffalo NY, Kendra received a four-year Division I Basketball Scholarship to Colgate University and graduated in 2011 with a Major in Political Science and Minor in African American Studies. In 2017, she received her MBA from University at Buffalo. Kendra recently concluded her 7-year stint as Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Nardin Academy. She is the current President of the Buffalo Urban League Young Professionals, Vice President of Operations for the Black MBA Association, Western NY Chapter, and Board Member at the William-Emslie YMCA. Kendra’s other leadership includes Leadership Buffalo Class of 2013. Kendra is a recipient of the 2017 Buffalo Urban League Young Professionals Trailblazer Award, a 30 under 30 Changemakers Honoree (2016), Women Touching the World Honoree (2018), and recently, she was inducted into the 2018 Nardin Athletic Hall of Fame. In her pastime, Kendra loves mentoring children, traveling, and watching the latest scary movie on the screen.

Barbara Miller-Williams currently serves as the 1st District Erie County Legislator. She was the first African American Woman to serve as Chairperson of the Erie County Legislature. She is a former Ellicott District Councilmember and continues to serve as an advocate with a passionate voice for the revival of Buffalo. Legislator Miller-Williams is honored to have served our Country as a Master Sergeant/Equal Opportunity Advisor in the United States Army Reserve where she retired in 2016. She is also a former Buffalo Police Officer (Retired) serving the Community for over 29 years. Ms. Miller-Williams holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Masters of Science Degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration. She is a graduate of Leadership Buffalo Class of 1995 and 1997 and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc., Gamma Phi Omega Chapter, Harriet Tubman 300’s, Inc., Judges and Police Conference of WNY, Afro-American Police Association, N.A.A.C.P., Buffalo Urban League, and the Buffalo Place Board of Directors. She continues to progressively serve her community and is active in the religious, educational and civic communities.

Cecelie Owens, a native of Buffalo, NY , is the founder and president of the G.I.R.L.S. Sports Foundation, Inc. She founded the organization with a vision and a dream to teach girls growing up in her community the values that were so generously given to her. The name of the organization itself not only represents the population we serve, underserved inner city girls, but also the values we hope to instill in them; Goals, Integrity, Respect, Leadership, Sports (G.I.R.L.S.). Our overall mission is to reach underserved girls ages 4-18 years old by promoting the importance of academic achievement, respect, leadership, self confidence, healthy lifestyles, team work, and good sportsmanship through sports participation and mentoring. Ms. Owens possesses a Bachelor of Science in education, Masters in education, Masters in Educational Leadership and school district administration certification. She is the first African American female inducted into the Buffalo State College Athletic Hall of Fame – 1999. Cecelie has also served as the Director of the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) hosted at Buffalo State College for 10 years.

Daphne Ross is the Communications Director for Say Yes Buffalo. In her role, Daphne coordinates, manages and implements communications and marketing activities to promote the organization’s work with the goal of increasing awareness and understanding of the Say Yes Buffalo initiative’s services and supports among key target audiences. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Daphne attended City Honors School, Canisius College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications and St. Bonaventure University where she earned a master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. In 2017, Daphne launched Lineage Communications, a boutique marketing communications consulting company with co-founder, Aziza Abdul-Alim. In her spare time, Daphne is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in the Buffalo Alumnae Chapter and she enjoys spending time with her husband, Kevin, family and friends.

Black Nurses Rock Buffalo Inc. is an organization with a focus to foster a positive environment of professional growth and development. We provide support through out the community by providing health education and mentorship to nursing students in an effort to elevate our profession.

Single Moms Club - Tim Kennedy's Office
This initiative is a space for single mothers to come together for an evening of fun, self exploration, and growth. The idea is to bring women together, have a fun activity for them to like painting; have speakers come in and talk to them about continuing their education, jobs, resumes, mental health, relationships, parenting etc. While this is going on their children will be in a separate space doing cookie decorating etc.

The ECMC Mobile Mammography Bus will be on-site for you to get your mammogram! Get the details to set up your appointment now!

Mammograms will be done by appointment only from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Please call 716-632-7465, option #3 to reserve your appointment time.

If you are 40 or older and have never had a mammogram OR you are due for your annual mammogram please call 716-632-7465, Option #3 to reserve your appointment time.

 On the day of your appointment, please bring your insurance card, photo ID, and mammogram
script. If you have to call your physician for a script, please fax to: 716-632-7464.
 If you do not have a script or a physician please call us 716-632-7464, Option #3 we can help!!!
 If you do not have insurance coverage, please contact Cancer Services Program 716-858-7376. They will pre-register you and let you know in advance if they will provide payment coverage the day of the mammogram.
 If you are unable to attend the event please call us 716-632-7464, Option #3 to be scheduled at another event near you.
