Every week I,  ADRI.V The Go Getta look to feature and interview a young mover and shaker who embodies the “Go Getta Spirit” and is doing great things for the people and themselves in the Western New York and Southern Ontario community.

Having the the blessed opportunity of having my show “The Go Getta Mix” I look to use my platform to acknowledge those people nominated as “The Go Getta of The Week”.

Meet The Go Getta Sean Thompson.

Sean Thompson is the son of Beverly Thompson and Alvin Hale. Proudly married

to Andrea Thompson in 2001, he has 2 children Sean and Kyle. Born

in Buffalo, N.Y. Sean attended a variety of catholic schools. From there he went

to McKinley High school were he participated in sports and many activities.

After graduating from McKinley, Sean attended Morehouse College in

Atlanta where he majored in Business Marketing. It was during this time that

he was infected with the entrepreneurial spirit. According to Sean, the first rule

he learned and will never forget is, "to be on time, is to be late." That statement

has been the cornerstone of his success. While in school he learned how to cut

hair in the dorm and later found a job at a barbershop. He has been cutting hair

ever since.

Returning to Buffalo, barbering professionally, Sean worked as an apprentice

in the Metropolitan Barbershop for a number of years. Under the tutelage of Leon

Grasham, he learned the history of the craft. He also learned to serve the customer

promptly, professionally and to do so in a clean environment. When Sean left

Metropolitan to work at Mr. J's Barbershop, his cliental continued to grow. In the

entrepreneurial sprit, he purchased the shop from the owner in 1999 and opened

Sean's House of Masters Barbershop.

Sean is active in the community and is a supporter of numerous activities and

fundraisers. He is a member of the Hamlin Park Association, which improves the

community and protects the neighborhood. Sean has won a number of styling

competitions and attended many hair and business seminars. The shop has awards

from organizations throughout the city for service to the community. Also, to his

credit, he mentors apprentice barbers who strive to become master barbers and

eventually owners of their own businesses.

In 2013, Sean became the first barber instructor for Erie 1 Boces responsible for

training students to become Master barbers. Also had the task of a crediting the

program to provide financial aid and training future instructors. In 2014, one of his

students won the Andis clipper company and Modern Salon rising star student

competition. The only barber student in the country from hundreds of contestants.

Andis flew the student and Sean to the biggest Beauty show in America to be

presented this award, putting Buffalo on the map for Barbering.
