Happy Birthday, ‘Satchmo’ Louis Armstrong [VIDEO]

Today we celebrate the life and music of Louis Armstrong aka "Scatchmo" or "Pops." Louis Armstrong was born on this date (August 4) 1901 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Louis Armstrong's music career started in the 1920s playing the cornet and trumpet. Satchmo was a foundational influence in jazz. Best known for his charismatic stage presence and unmistakable gravelly voice, Louis Armstrong talents crossed over and through many racial barriers that confronted him at the time in America.
