Three people are dead and more than 150 people were injured in the Boston Marathon Bombings yesterday. Do tragedies like this make you afraid to attend large events like this?

Today (April 16) marks the 6th anniversary of the shooting rampage at Virginia Tech, when a 23-year-old college student killed 32 people before taking his own life. But even in these past few months, our country has witnessed several violent tragedies in public places: Newtown Elementary School, the theater massacre in Aurora, Colo., and of course the bombings at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, the largest and oldest race in America.

In the hours and days following the latest public tragedy, several high-profile public events have been cancelled in and around Boston. Last night the Boston Bruins postponed their NHL game. Tonight the Boston Celtics cancelled their NBA game, and even the nearby New England Patriots cancelled a media conference today.
