It looks like soon we’ll be saying goodbye to the “Empire,” as it’s been announced that season six will be the final season of Fox’s scripted series. The show was recently renewed for a new season following the controversy surrounding one of the show’s stars, Jussie Smollett.

According to Deadline, on Monday, it was announced on Fox’s Upfront call that the show would be canceled following its sixth season. Charlie Collier, the CEO of Fox Entertainment, said, “We are turning the final season into a large TV event, we are trying to go out guns a blazing. You allow fans to lean in and have the ending they deserve.”

Along with the show’s changes, they’ll also be moving the show from Wednesday nights, back to its original slot on Tuesday nights at 9pm.
