April is here and with it comes an interesting pattern in our weather around Western New York. With the mix of rain and sun and the warmer days, there is something that we all can look forward to this month.

Hopefully the skies will be cleared on April 26th for what the experts are calling a Super Pink Moon!

The big question most everyone has is "why do we call it Pink?" According to the Farmer's Almanac

April’s full Moon often corresponded with the early springtime blooms of a certain wildflower native to eastern North America: Phlox subulata—commonly called creeping phlox or moss phlox—which also went by the name “moss pink.”

The full moon at the end of the month will also coincide with the end of a good stretch of fishing during this month.

There is nothing like a clear night with a big moon overhead. But the hardest part is trying to capture a good picture on your phone. Every time that I think I have a good shot of it, the moon looks more like a little white dot on a dark screen. But the moon is one of those things that we all try to get a great photo of to share with our friends on social media.
