R.I.P to Barbara Merriweather Sims, Buffalo’s 1st Black Judge

I actually heard it from at the grocery store but Mayor Brown tweeted it out yesterday evening that Barbara Merriweather Sims died.

I never met her but her accomplishments were amazing. She was the First African American woman to graduate from UB Law School, First African American woman to serve as Erie County Assistant District Attorney and the First African American Buffalo City Court Judge.

No word on the funeral arrangements have been announced at this time but we will keep you posted. Prayers up to her family and friends!!
