PICTURES: Bizarre Moment At St. Bonaventure Game When Security Chokes Student Videographer
UPDATE: The videographer in the video footage from last night has been identified as Nathan DeSutter, the digital media director for the St. Bonaventure athletic department.
St. Bonaventure punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament after knocking off VCU in the A-10 Championship last night in Daytona. Bonnies ended up taking the #9 seed in the East Region and will face 8th-seeded LSU in the opening round of the tournament coming up on Saturday, March 20.
There was an incident at the end of the game though, that has caught the attention of fans.
As the buzzer went to end the game, a student videographer was on the sideline getting footage of the celebration and you can see a suited up security guard trying to stop him. After the videographer does a spin move to avoid the security, the guard comes up behind him and puts him in a choke hold. You can see the footage that we found below, but it raises the question 'what was the kid actually doing wrong'?
The Buffalo News is reporting that the Atlantic 10 is investigating this incident where a security guard pursued a St Bonaventure videographer and dragged him off the court during postgame celebration.
"We're aware and we're looking into it with Dayton," Drew Dickerson, assistant commissioner of the A-10, wrote in an email, according the The News.
