911 Call Mystery: The ‘Dead’ New York Hiker Who Wasn’t Dead At All
NEW YORK HIKER REPORTED DEAD! The thing is, this hiker is not dead at all. Why would his 2 friends call authorities to alert them that their buddy had died while hiking with them? Here's the long, strange trip of 3 hikers, alive and well in New York. 2 of them just don't know it.
Memorial Day Weekend proved to be a great time to get outdoors and enjoy nature. For 3 hikers in New York outdoors wasn't enough. Some of them decided to be out of their minds as well.

On Saturday May 24th, according to a press release, New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Officers responded to a call for a reportedly deceased hiker in Essex County.
3 individuals were enjoying a hike at Cascade Mountain in North Elba, NY. At around 9am two of the hikers called 911 to report that the third member of their party had died. These two hikers also encountered a Cascade Summit Steward and reported that they were lost.
The Cascade Summit Steward determined that the 2 hikers were in an altered state of mind. DEC Forest Ranger Praczkajlo arrived on the scene to escort the 2 hikers to a waiting ambulance. The 2 allegedly had ingested hallucinogenic mushrooms.
As they were headed toward the waiting ambulance the 3rd member of this hiking party called and was not injured, let alone dead. He was escorted back to the party's campsite.
If a person needs a Forest Ranger, whether it's for a search and rescue, to report a wildfire, or to report illegal activity on state lands and easements, they should call 833-NYS-RANGERS. If a person needs urgent assistance, they can call 911.
