Rumor Has It You Might Have to Pay to Watch Buffalo Bills Games
A rumor suggests that Bills Mafia may have to pay to watch their team on TV soon.
Sunday in the NFL during the season is a tradition. Traditionally, CBS and Fox have carried the Sunday games that happen at 1 pm and 4 pm. In other words, if you have an antenna, you can get the games for free over traditional broadcast television. While services like Amazon have recently started carrying Thursday Night Football games, the vast majority of them are carried over traditional broadcast television.
Big changes could be coming, though.
Streaming services have started to step up their game when it comes to live sports and sports entertainment. After all, Netflix recently purchased the rights to the popular WWE Monday Night Raw. They also recently aired the Christmas Day NFL games, which was a big success for them. Now, it appears Netflix wants more than just one day. In fact, they want the biggest piece of the NFL's schedule.
Rumor Has It You Might Have to Pay to Watch Buffalo Bills Games
NBC reports that Netflix wants the rights to the Sunday afternoon game packages that CBS and Fox hold.
What Could This Mean? It could mean that you would have to have a Netflix subscription to watch Buffalo Bills games. However, it could also mean that the games are on Netflix but still broadcast locally on a station like News 4 Buffalo. That often happens with games like Thursday night football, where the game might be on Prime, but it is still carried locally for the teams playing in the game on a station.
We'll have to wait and see what happens. Netflix has deep pockets, and it would not be surprising if they ended up with the Sunday schedule, be it from Fox, CBS, or both.
