
STAR Rebate Checks Now Out In Western New York
There could be a big surprise for you when you head out to your mailbox.
New York State has started to send out STAR Rebate checks, and they are now arriving across Western New York.

When I opened my mailbox this morning, there was a nice little surprise waiting for me. I saw that New York State has issued my Star Rebate check. I live in Hamburg, and it looks like a lot of people are getting their rebate checks this week.

Most STAR rebate checks in Western New York were issued at the beginning of September and will continue to be sent out for the next several weeks.

What Is The STAR Rebate Check?
STAR stands for the "School Tax Relief" program. It is a program that helps reduce property taxes for certain homeowners in New York State. The rebate is applied after you have paid your taxes, which is why New York State will issue a check to you.
How Much Will My STAR Rebate Check Be?
The amount you get back depends on several factors, including school district, household income, and your age.
STAR Rebate checks come in two forms.
- Most homeowners eligible for Basic STAR credit: Receive a check between $350 and $600.
- Most seniors eligible for Enhanced STAR credit: Receive a check between $700 and $1,500.
